People who have difficulty walking on their own are able to use several different types of mobility vehicles to help them get around. One of the most common types of mobility vehicle is the Mobility Scooter.
A mobility scooter is a very common mobility aid that is used across the world. Many public areas, like grocery stores, offer a commercial version of the mobility scooter, but these models are usually in poor condition and lack many of the features that other mobility scooters have.
A modern mobility scooter relies on battery power to propel its movements. Most scooters generally plug directly into the wall, but some models require that you remove the battery from the scooter to charge it. The range varies by model, but most can travel at least ten miles on a single charge, but there are also many that can travel much more than that.
A mobility scooter is often used for many of the same reasons that a wheelchair would be used, but they are operated in a different manner. A set of handle bars extends from the front of the scooter and is attached to a bar that is called a tiller. The tiller can be adjusted to bring the handlebars closer or further from the scooter. The accelerator is attached to the handlebars as are the switches for the lighting control or any other features the scooter might have.
When using a mobility scooter to get around, it is important that you pay attention to the environment. Watch out for obstacles, such as curbs, which might negatively affect the travel of the scooter. It is also extremely important to avoid public streets whenever possible, because it can be difficult for people in cars or trucks to see a person on a mobility scooter.
People who are unable to walk easily or without assistance often find that mobility scooters are responsible for improving their ability to get around and also their overall independence.

Mobility scooters serve a great need in our community. They allow many people to continue to play an active role and feel more independent. Hope we continue to embrace their use as a community and hope anyone who needs one gets it.
