Some Types of Mobility Scooters

It is not always easy for people with mobility related problems to walk around. Many times these difficulties are as a result of Arthritis or neuromuscular diseases that make walking difficult and even sometimes painful. As a walking aid, many people choose to use mobility scooters, which are a special kind of personal vehicle.

A mobility scooter can be used indoor or out, but not all scooters perform the same. It is a great idea to write a list of all the places where you will be using the scooter. Make note of the type of terrain you will be driving over, such as dirt, sand, grass, or pavement. After you have made the list, you will have a better idea of what you need from your scooter.

If you found that you will mostly be using the scooter indoors or over paved areas, then a 3-wheeled scooter will probably be a good choice. A 3-wheeled scooter is great for indoor use because it is highly maneuverable, but it doesn’t support as much weight or handle uneven terrain as well.

If you found that you need a combination of indoor and outdoor terrain, you might be better off with a 4-wheeled scooter, which offers superior stability and increased weight capacity. It is not as maneuverable though, so will not do as well in tight quarters. People that need to go over rugged, uneven, and loose terrain will probably want to go with a heavy duty scooter, which offers superior stability, weight support, and can be driven almost anywhere.
